Registering Reality

I've noticed that sometimes I deny certain aspects of reality because it doesn't fit with my mental model of reality or as certain part of it. This is, of course, wrong. A person should be able register all aspects of reality wither he understands it or not. It seems to me that this is a natural tendency as it sometimes requires rethinking they way you understand things.
