Communication Inaccuracies

In many cases, we cause problems that can sever relationships that could have otherwise endured, just because of a lack of accuracy in our expressions, which I prefer to call lies.

Here is something we might say if someone can't understand a point we are trying to make, "Are you a donkey?" which implies that the addressee has done something that made you reassess the nature of his existence, man or donkey!

Now let's look at the situation that initiated this expression. It might have been merely a misunderstanding on either side; or he might have been really wrong, and let's say he was. Does that really make him a full blown DONKEY (ears and all)?

When you imply that a person, in his entirety, is stupid, you are conveying a fallacy. What you know for a fact is that this person has (perhaps) misunderstood a specific point. You must portray the incident the way it really happened and not exaggerate (lie) because you are angry or frustrated at him or her.

"It seems that you have misunderstood this point," is how we should express what happened.

"You are so stupid",

"You are a coward",

"You are ugly",

"You have absolutely no taste when it comes to choosing ...,"

With such blanket statements, we demean the entirety of another person's being because we are just saying something about them that is just not true. No wonder people get angry.

In the Holy Quran, Allah tells us to go a step further than just being accurate.

He orders to say what is "best." In other words, the accurate facts that we convey should not be conveyed harshly, but rather in the "best" manner possible by choosing kind expressions rather then rough words. The Almighty explains that Satin always tries to stir disagreement between us.

This might mean that by saying things that are inaccurate or things that are accurate but that don't take into consideration the other person's feelings, with deviating from the hard truth, mind you, is a tool Satin uses to start disputes and arguments.
